Video Game Music Digital Catalog
Overview
At Alfred Music we were trying to promote our line of video game soundtrack sheet music books with a special digital catalog. The goal with this catalog was create a clean and easy tool for the sales team to use to help sell our products. I pitched this idea of a digital only catalog created and designed from the ground up. For this project I used photography (Nikon Camera), Indesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator.

The main goal for this project was to create something that would be an awesome digital experience for users. This meant that I needed to keep computer screens in mind, while still developing a catalog that could be an easy experience for mobile and tablets.
I created dedicated pages for each section. I made them big and spacious with the proper amount of information provided by the project manager. I also wanted to give them a template style for consistency.
Since I was dealing with various franchises, I needed to be able to switch between them without changing the flow and theme of the catalog. This is why I created the large image along with color header to brand each book's respected video game franchise.
Some of the books had videos and other multimedia items attached to their products. Since this was going to be a digital only experience I created spaces in various sections of the page to place these videos. This made it so that the user did not have to leave the catalog to view more information about the product.
For the cover, I wanted to take a clean and stylish direction to match the interior. I wanted to capture the fun of video games and the mood they create and then apply that look and feel to our books. I decided to set up a photo shoot placing our books in fun video game party atmosphere. I took many shots and edited them myself to make them fit into the layout specs I was working with.
This project went through several stages and proofs. About four proofs in total. The template was built from scratch, so there was definitely debate about how the products and layout should look.
Conclusion
This catalog was part of a digital advancement movement I was really pushing at Alfred Music. We are a dominantly print focused company and I take advantage of any chance that we can use our digital resources. I was happy with the final product of this catalog and received many compliments regarding its usefulness. This project also set the bar for future foyers into digital catalogs.
