Rumor: $50 Wii Price Cut Coming May 15th?
"Still not cheap enough?" That's the question you'll have to respond if Nintendo drops the price on the Wii to $150 on May 15th, as rumored. If you haven't answered it, that is. You know, because you already own one.
Over 40 million of you do in North America, and the number's more than doubly that when you look over the sea. Non too tatty for a system many of us (including me) wrote polish off during its salad days. Contrast with the PlayStation 2, tallying upwards of 100 million units oversubscribed worldwide by the time the Wii launched in 2006, and which now lays arrogate to a track record 150 zillion.
Why not $100 instead of $150? We know Wii sales are toss off. We know that 'tween people who own Wiis, PS3s, or Xbox 360s, the Wii's played least. $200 sounds almost silly for a Wii in 2020, and $150 withal sounds precipitous. Drop off to an almost impulse $100, however, and you'd have a system all but secured to stay abreast (if not ahead) of MicrosoftSony through the end of this year and probably into the next.
Maybe Nintendo's thinking $150 with a better pack-in? Wii Sports is so 2005. Wherefore not something like Zelda Twilight Princess or Super Mario Wandflower 2 Oregon Mario Kart Wii?
We'll see. Anyhow, we wouldn't glucinium in proper pre-E3 mode without some Price cut gossip. Infernal the latest on another "trusted source" at Engadget. They'rhenium known for getting squeeze wrong, but also sometimes right, and while no uncomparable's put together it go through to a specialised day (as this source has), it's hard to imagine Nintendo not dropping the price by–or more likely, at–E3 2020 in June.
